Why Futonrama exists

There was no dedicated futon & tatami retailer anywhere in the Baltic states — so buying authentic Japanese floor-sleeping bedding meant importing it yourself via the UK, Germany, or Japan, at more than double the price. We started Futonrama to close that gap.

The opportunity

A 2026 wellness trend with no local home

Floor sleeping, tatami, and Japandi minimalism are peaking across Europe, and no local player had claimed the region. We saw a market with real demand and no dedicated supply chain to serve it — so we built one.

How we do it

A direct line from Japan to the Baltics

We work directly with Japanese futon makers and ship in bulk by ocean freight to our own hub in Riga — skipping the Western European resellers who typically mark products up 60–100% before they ever reach a Baltic buyer. From Riga, orders reach customers across the Baltics in days.

The materials, not just the country of origin

"Japan-made" is a starting point, not the whole story — here's what that actually means for each piece.

Shikibuton mattress

Multiple layers of dense cotton batting, built up and covered in linen the traditional way — firm enough to support you directly on the floor or a tatami mat.

Kakebuton duvet

A lighter cotton-and-fiber fill, quilted to stay breathable overnight rather than trapping heat the way a synthetic duvet can.

Tatami mat

Woven from igusa — soft rush grass long used in Japanese flooring — chosen for its give underfoot and the faint natural scent it carries when new.

We buy in bulk from established Japanese futon manufacturers. We haven't published individual supplier profiles or sourcing certifications yet while we finalize pilot-batch partnerships — if that's material to your decision, ask us directly via the contact page and we'll tell you what we know.

Five people, one chain of command

Founder & CEO · "Wolffman"

Previously built CommonSense Ltd, applying AI and LLMs to how people use common sense — now applying the same rigor to Baltic sleep infrastructure. Arthis has full operational oversight across product, supply chain, and go-to-market.

Futonrama is a team of five. Every function reports directly to the CEO; the rest of the team isn't public yet.
